Joomla! 3.0 in September... WITH MOBILE... http://t.co/RwT25bf6
These are not traditionally a pair of registered names that we pair up. For sure, Joomla! has been a technology that can run on a Microsoft platform for years... but it has pretty much always been a safer bet to run it on a Linux (LAMP) platform. The codebase could transfer to a Microsoft platform, but everything was written with PHP and Linux in mind... not IIS.
Well, that may be changing.
Microsoft signed the Joomla! Contriutor Agreement back in April and even contributed some code to the forthcoming 1.6 release to help with caching on the Microsoft platform... not too shaby.
And now, Microsoft has placed the Joomla! CMS on their windows web app gallery where it has already garnered close to 70,000 downloads.
I am going to give the installer a go on one of my Microsoft servers and see just how smooth it can be to develop a Joomla! site on a Microsoft server. This could be a wonderful solution for corporate and academic institutions sitting on a set of Microsoft intranet servers, install Joomla! and start developing!
