At our November 2010 User Group meetup we also had the good fortune of being entertained and informed by Steven Pignataro of CorePHP .  Steven gave us a great tour through current offerings of CorePHP, new software projects on the cusp of release and a whole lot of wisdom about web desing and business in general.

Some Background

I am a founding member of the SuperHouse community and a regular contributor on most every project. I really love to see people rally around an artistic endeavor and create something together. I love to fuse technology with purpose and see it get used to do something good, SuperHouse is just such an effort.

I have spent the last ten years of my life working with computer related media projects and I still enjoy it. Let me know what you are trying to do, and I will do my best to find the technology that will make it happen...

Joomla! Detroit User Group Founder

I created the Joomla! Detroit User Group about a year ago after working with joomla for about 2 years.  I stumbled into the world of Open Source Software after discovering how much fun (and how easy) it was to do my own blog with the opern source software, WordPress.  I saw the potential and then I stumbled upon Joomla!  It was easy and powerful.  I could create websites for groups of people with functionality I only dreamed of the year before, and I could do it practically over night.  I invite you to join the Joomla! users group and help us learn together and share this great tool with our communities.

Alex Fisher and Michigan Drupal

Written by Administrator.

alex.png One of the big draws for me to Joomla! initially was the community support.  I did not feel alone when I was jumping in.  Joomla! was actually introduced to me by a coworker before it forked from mambo.

Mambo has not had a news post on its site since 2008, well that is what you get for trying to jump ship on open source.

Drupal is a great open source CMS and it is so because of a community that supports it as well as the Joomla! community.  When I meet folks like Alex Fisher, I know that their expertise and decisions are not in vain... and the choice to go with Drupal makes a lot of sense.

If you want to jump into Drupal, there is a user group right around the corner, with experts like Alex waiting to help you take the next step.  For all of us trying to wrangle the octopus of web design, this is invaluable.  Sure you could read his blog , but here you get to ask him a question in person.

Or if you need to build out a Drupal website for your next project, you could hire him!
